7733 – truck and forklift

Alexander’s project for the past four days has been the construction of set 7733, the cargo truck and forklift. A really attractive model including a functioning forklift and a couple of palettes with some strange payloads. Stuff the FBI would potentially worry about.

It’s a demanding build for little hands, but the advantage of this set is the separation of the various parts of the model into four distinct packages: the forklift, truck, container and trailer. Each is just complex and demanding enough for 30 minutes of building. In the grander scheme of things, this means being able to spread the building work over a couple of days with the promise of play after each construction period and the provision of something to look forward to the next day.

Once finished, the truck with attached trailer is almost 30cm in length. Opening cargo doors provide easy access for the forklift to stash the palettes. Playtime has commenced!

As with most modern sets in the modern Lego world, this one does introduce a number of very specialized pieces. The end-result is a model with a fair degree of detail

and some nice finishing touches
